Jim started Clendenen Family Vineyards in 2000 from tiny amounts of special quality grapes harvested in home-farmed vineyards. Those grapes are then vinified in a highly personal, very traditional and patient fashion. The resulting wines are unique in California, and are very distinctive and desirable in an international context.

Jim Clendenen, The Mind Behind At the request of the Mendelsons, Jim Clendenen was asked to produce a wine from their sustainable Russian River property with the same 5 clones (114, 115, 667, 777 and Pommard) used to produce his Le Bon Climat label LBC from RR? Who knew?

We’re back in the saddle with superstar Jim Clendenen and barrel mega-superstar Mel Knox who brings us a Mendocino project. Ici/La-Bas translates from French as "here and there" and there is a reference to the fact that the fruit for this label comes way to the north of the winery in Santa Maria in California's Central Coast where the wines are made. Completely devoted to Chard and Pinot, he’s been sourcing fruit from Tom and Mary Elke’s vineyard since 1997. You might remember the wine also being under an Oregon label. Ici/La-Bas started as a goal to showcase Francois Frères barrels and Oregon Pinot Noir to stimulate sales to the Pacific Northwest. Jim has since ceased the contracts in Oregon to focus on the Anderson Valley project.

Francois Frères is medium-tight grained making it perfect for pinot noir and chardonnay development. It is known for producing ‘gentle’ wines and also as the ‘perfect eraser - like oregano, it makes everything taste good’.

Latin for ‘out of doors’, Foris conveys the mood of the flowing rivers and lush, fir-covered Siskiyou Mountains which surround their vineyards. Since 1974, Foris has cultivated premium grapes at selected sites in Southern Oregon's Rogue Valley. Our estate vineyards are established on the Siskiyou Mountain Terrace in the cooler, western reaches of the region. Foris handcrafts soft, silky, and accessible Pinot Noir through restricted yields and detailed clonal selection. Traditional vineyards and winemaking techniques consistently achieve a high degree of ripeness, fruit concentra-tion and rich texture reflective of our unique terroir.

A winding uphill drive on a stunning mountain road brings wine tourers to the 180-acre Keenan Winery. The dramatic greens and dusty browns of the Mayacamas Mountain Range color the scenic backdrop while diaphanous wisps of fog create the perfect micro-climate for growing distinctive, flavorful grapes. It’s easy to see how this mountainous region lured a late-nineteenth century vintner and how again - 80 years later - it enticed yet another enterprising vintner by the name of Robert Keenan. They have been producing wine since 1977, and since 2007, they are solar-powered and are practicing sustainably.

Chateau Pey la Tour benefits from one of the finest terroirs in the Bordeaux appellation. The wines produced at Chateau Pey la Tour owe their character to the soil type specific to the region and remarkable diversity of terroirs. The combination of soil-type, grape varieties, rootstock, age of the vines and separate vinifications and aging as led to wines of great character and complexity. The estate has achieved a reputation beyond its appellation as the model of a great, yet affordable, Bordeaux wine.

Pierre Dourthe launched this company as a wine merchant back in 1840, but it was the fourth generation, André and Roger, who began purchasing vineyards and properties in Bordeaux. It now manages 500 hectares of vines. During the 20th century, as well as acquiring various Bordeaux properties - such as Château Belgrave in the Haut-Médoc, Château La Garde in Pessac-Léognan, Château le Boscq in Saint-Estèphe and Château Pey La Tour - the company launched a number of successful wine ranges, including Dourthe No. 1.

Shared Notes is the winemaking joint-venture between wife and husband, Bibiana Gonzalez Rave and Jeff Pisoni.
Both had early desires of making wine and spent most of their lives doing so. The year 2012, however, marked the first vintage that they produced together. Previously, during the grape harvest, Bibiana and Jeff were like the proverbial ships passing in the night. Early grape picks and late nights at the winery left them rarely crossing paths. Now, they do cross paths and bring you 2 Sauvignon Blancs, one in homage to the great whites of Bordeaux and the other of the Loire.
